Mountain Bike Trail Development

Flaming Gorge Area Mountain Bike Trails

There a variety of trails throughout the Flaming Gorge area.  We have Biking, Hiking, Horse and ATV trails with views of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation area, the Ashley National Forest and the Red Rock areas in Bureau of Land Management areas near Brown’s Park.  A recent Outdoor Recreation Assessment performed by Public Lands Solutions indicated:  “The most obvious area for expanding recreational opportunities and creating new revenue in Daggett County-given its topography, location and services-is the establishment of new mountain bike trails, which costs a fraction of other recreational developments and has proven successful elsewhere.”  The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) was hired to look at the likelihood and location of possible trail development.  Their efforts created a report titled Trails Proposal and Concept Design for the Revision and Expansion of the Flaming Gorge Trail System It’s a large document 129 MB and will take a while to download, but feel free to take a look.  Based on this information and discussions with the Forest Service over the past year and a grant we recently received trail work has commenced on the Dowd Mountain Trail System.  Volunteers are invited to help sculpt the trail and ride it to finish it off on a Trails Work Day on Saturday, August 15, 2015.  Feel free to share this info with anyone interested in trail development.
