The Ashley is a large part of Daggett County
The U.S. Forest Service’s Ashley National Forest manages over 245,000 acres of land in Daggett County including the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Forest Service managed acreage accounts for nearly 55% of the land in Daggett County. There are plenty of recreational opportunities on the Forest Service lands including: camping, fishing, hiking, biking, rafting, photography and wildlife viewing. Certain areas within the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area that have improvements have Use Fees (840 kb) as part of the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (REA). The Forest Service has also created a list of local Accomodations and Services.
Forest Plan
The Forest Service is currently in the middle of updating their Forest Plan. They have finalized their Travel Mangement Plan. Much of the information generated from this process can be found on the Ashley National Forest website.
Summer Weekend Programs
The Forest Service provides weekend programs for visitors for both the Lucerne area and the Dutch John area. We will try and provide times and locations as they pass that information along to us. Dates and times will be listed on the calendar to the right. The last program of the summer will be held on September 4, 2010. You can sign up to be notified by e-mail or text when items are added to the Events Calendar or News Flash by clicking on the Notify Me link.
